Teachers, professors, and debate coaches help students build a skill that will serve them well for their entire lives. The challenge is translating a very specific format of scholastic debate – sometimes involving top-speed talking or insider jargon – into everyday persuasion. The Resolution can help your students apply their knowledge, speaking skills, critical thinking and interpersonal abilities in a fast-paced, interactive and fun way. Anyone can sign up to become a Full Member, but Educators have access to features that make this game perfect for the classroom.

What You Get

Account-Free Student Participation

No student information is ever stored by the platform. When you create a debate as an Educator, you'll receive a room code that anyone can use to join. Students enter a display name — their first name, a codename, a student number, or anything else you choose — and they're in. You can export participant data for your records.

Fully Private Debates

Every debate you create as an Educator is private by default. Your matches won't appear in the public debate listings, and they won't be searchable by other users looking for a game. What happens in your classroom stays in your classroom.

Direct Misconduct Notifications

If a student's language is flagged by the platform's automated moderation system during one of your debates, you'll be notified directly by email with full context — the flagged content, the match details, and the student's display name. This bypasses the standard appeal process, keeping disciplinary decisions where they belong: with you.

Verified Educator Badge

Approved educators receive a verified badge (🎓) displayed next to their name throughout the platform — on the leaderboard, in match lobbies, and in community spaces.

How It Works

Users can choose a Full (60-minute) or Fast (30-minute) format. Each debate features:

  • Two teams (YES and NO) arguing a resolution
  • Structured rounds including opening statements, cross-examination, rebuttals, and closing arguments
  • A built-in timer that keeps rounds on track
  • Voting and scoring at the end of each match
  • Argument preparation tools including a primer on the Toulmin Method and visual flowcharts

Students can use the platform's practice tools — including a standalone timer, flowchart builder, and score calculator — without creating an account or even being online.

What It Costs

All paid accounts come with a one-month free trial. For the initial rollout, an Educator account for one teacher costs $14.99/month. Students can join your debates at no cost and with no sign-up friction.
